Why Hospice?

Hospice helps people live life to the fullest.

Hospice is palliative “comfort” care provided by a team of specially trained professionals and delivered to wherever the hospice patient calls home. The goal of the interdisciplinary hospice care team is to design, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive individualized plan of care to manage symptoms and control pain. This is accomplished through the leadership of a medical director working with nurses and hospice aides (the clinical team) along with a team made up of social workers, spiritual and bereavement counselors, and volunteers (the psychosocial team).

Together, the teams provide services and support to ensure the highest quality of life possible for the individual living with a life-limiting condition.

  • Hospice focuses on caring not curing
  • Hospice services are available to patients of any race, color, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation, regardless of their type of terminal illness
  • Hospice care eliminates the need for emergency trips to the hospital and visits to doctors
  • Hospice services can be delivered wherever the patient calls home: a long-term care facility, hospital, or at home
  • Hospice care is covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, HMO’s, and other managed care organizations

Thank you for all you did on behalf of my sister Judy. The kind words you’ve sent to me have been an encouragement!
